AMERIgreen Energy hosted local oil heat distributors at their “Spring Training” event, Thursday, June 26th at Citi Field, home of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets.
Meant to increase awareness of the advantages of adopting Bioheat fuel–both in environmental sustainability and profits–the event involved educational sessions, panel discussions and seminars led by respected figures in the industry.
Reflecting a pervasive theme in the industry of survival in the face of adversity, Michael Devine, CEO, Earth Energy Alliance, urged attendees to “play offense” in the industry by embracing Bioheat as a viable diversification tactic.
Dr. Thomas Butcher, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and John Huber, President, NORA, quelled any doubts about the performance of Bioheat fuel in existing equipment–even up to B100–reminding attendees that most of the performance problems attributed to Bioheat fuel actually occurred more often with traditional heating oil.
Other speakers included John Maniscalco, New York Oil Heating Association; Kevin Rooney, Oil Heat Institute of Long Island; and Michael Trunzo, New England Fuel Institute. Additional topics covered were best practices, customer service and customer retention.
“In today’s industry, it’s vital to stay in tune with the research and development going on within the industry itself,” said Peter Schildwachter, a fuel distributor based in the Bronx. “Having the opportunity to hear from industry experts was really valuable.”
