OSHA Releases New Disclosure Requirements

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released new record keeping and reporting requirements regarding work-related injuries to go into effect January 1, 2015.

• Employers will be required to report any work-related employee fatality within eight hours of occurrence.

• Employers will be required to report any work-related inpatient hospitalization, amputation or loss of an eye within 24 hours.

• Fatalities must be reported if they occur within 30 days of a work-related incident. Hospitalizations must be reported only if they occur within 24 hours of a work-related incident.

Reports may be submitted to OSHA over the phone at (800) 321-OSHA or at a website currently under development.
Employers with ten or fewer employees at all times during the previous calendar year may be exempt from the new reporting requirements. Click here for more information on exemptions and to determine if your company is eligible.
