HVAC companies are partnering with funders collaborative CareerEdge and Manatee Technical College (MTC) in Bradenton., FL, to develop and fund a fast-track HVAC Installer program at the college. Set to launch in January, the program is meant to help HVAC companies recruit and quickly train people in the installation process and then mentor and apprentice them over time. The tuition-free class will begin January 22, 2019 and run through March with classes held Monday-Thursday evenings at MTC’s main campus. The program will also include CareerEdge’s “Bridges to Careers” soft skills training. Applicants must have a clean background, drug check, valid driver’s license, ability to lift 75 lbs. and be physically able to be in attics and high temperature environments. Graduates are guaranteed jobs with the participating employers, at an average starting wage of $15 per hour. No technical experience is required for this 225-hour HVAC Installer training.
Local companies participating include Aqua plumbing, B & I, Artic Air, Air Service of Manasota Inc., DEL-AIR, Conditioned Air, MACCA and Veteran Air. Cool Today, Badger Bob’s, DEL-AIR and Ultimate Air are providing materials and teaching.
