Sad news today from C. Cowles:
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing of our friend and colleague Bill Montgomery.
Bill originally joined C. Cowles in November 1986. He left for a few years, but we convinced him to return in November 1998. Throughout his many years with the company, Bill held various sales and management roles, representing both Hydrolevel and Carlin. His involvement in the company was an instrumental part of our success and we will always be grateful to have had him on our team.
During his long career in the hydronics industry, Bill left a lasting impression on countless people he met along the way. Beyond his years with us, Bill also spent time working for other manufacturers including Weil-McLain, HB Smith and Valliant. Bill was an active member of many industry groups such as OESP and was always a welcoming and popular face at industry functions.
Bill had the ability to connect with people in a way that few can. Even brief introductions to Bill often resulted in lifelong friendships. His diverse interests (family, collectables, vintage cars, music, and of course heating) always made for engaging conversation. But Bill was always less interested in talking about his interest than getting to know yours. Often, when Bill saw you, he would pick up on a conversation you had with him months earlier as though it was yesterday. No matter where he was, his ability to make everyone feel welcome was among his greatest gifts.
Bill was a huge presence in the company, the industry, and among the many that were fortunate enough to call him a friend.
His welcoming smile and sense of humor will be missed by many.
The family will be receiving friends from the hours of 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday November 10, 2022 at the Clancy Funeral home 244 North Main St., Branford, CT. The family would like to express their thanks for your love, support, and friendship throughout the years.
