BRUNSWICK, Maine —
The Maine Energy Marketers Association is working with heating fuel retailers in Maine for their annual Fuel Your Love Month to provide free heating fuel to Mainers in need.
All month long, you can nominate someone in need. On Feb. 28, 50 names will be drawn at random with winners each getting 100 gallons of heating fuel for free.
A special highlight of Fuel Your Love month comes on Valentine’s Day when fuel retailers involved in the program deliver a little extra warmth and savings to their customers that may need a little extra help this winter by filling their oil tanks at no charge.
According to the Governor’s Energy Office, heating costs in Maine right now are the highest they have been since 2014. As of Jan. 31, the average price for heating oil was $3.57, kerosene was $4.16 and propane was $3.28.
